HISTORY

Kyoho grapes, known scientifically as Vitis Vinifera, have a rich history originating in Japan's Nagano Prefecture in the early 20th century. Developed in the 1930s through the crossbreeding of European and American grape varieties, Kyoho grapes quickly became popular for their large size and sweet, juicy taste. Nagano's cool climate and well-drained soil provided ideal conditions for cultivating these grapes, which have since become a staple in Japanese agriculture and culture. Celebrated for their quality and taste, Kyoho grapes are used in traditional festivals and exported globally, appreciated for their unique flavor and health benefits.

SCIENCE

Vitis Vinifera leaf extract is a powerhouse of bioactive compounds that contribute to its efficacy in skincare. The extract is rich in polyphenols, flavonoids, and tannins, which are potent antioxidants. These compounds help protect the skin from oxidative stress and environmental damage. Key constituents include proanthocyanidins, powerful antioxidants that neutralize free radicals, preventing premature aging; flavonoids, known for their anti-inflammatory properties, which help soothe irritated skin and reduce redness; and tannins, which have astringent properties that tighten the skin and minimize the appearance of pores.

The high concentration of polyphenols in Vitis Vinifera leaf extract makes it an excellent ingredient for protecting the skin against UV radiation and environmental pollutants. Studies have shown that grape leaf extract can reduce oxidative damage by up to 50%, making it a valuable addition to sunscreens and anti-aging products. Inflammation is a major contributor to skin aging and various skin conditions such as acne and eczema. The anti-inflammatory properties of flavonoids in grape leaf extract can help calm the skin, reduce swelling, and alleviate redness. Clinical trials have demonstrated a significant reduction in skin inflammation with regular use of products containing this extract.

Proanthocyanidins in grape leaves are known to boost collagen synthesis and improve skin elasticity, resulting in firmer, more youthful-looking skin. A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found that the topical application of Vitis Vinifera leaf extract led to a 20% increase in skin elasticity over a 12-week period. Additionally, Vitis Vinifera leaf extract helps in maintaining the skin's moisture balance. Its natural sugars and vitamins contribute to enhanced hydration, making it ideal for dry and dehydrated skin types.
